It doesn't make them bad people but it does make them very selfish and full of hubris. That historically in one form or another has always led to bad circumstances for those who fall into this trap. That's why bread and circus's were so strongly promoted by older elites and tried to publicly show they cared (even if they didn't). Doesn't even have to be bread and circus's literally. Could be a large a public donation that contributes to the common good with their name on it or some kind of structure built that helps everyone. This way they can at least be seen attempting to something which immensely better than babbling on TV or Social Media all the time about how great they are or how much they have more than anyone else.
