@EnglishTurbines That's interesting given that leaving on WTO rules wasn't on the ballot paper. Most people never heard of WTO until after the referendum.

Boris Johnson will go down in history as whatever Donald Trump tells him to go down as.

@EnglishTurbines The ballot paper said to leave the EU only. It did not mention leaving the Single Market which is a separate treaty. In fact the leave campaign went to great pains to assure us that we would continue to have access to the Single Market.

Because no-deal will hurt EU countries too. Just not nearly as much as it will hurt Britain. So they will get fed up of waiting soon.
5
@snowyowel7961 But we did have a referendum to stay in the EU immediately after we joined with a landslide vote to remain.
4
@RupeWilson "i think you will find Cameron and others all explained quit well how important this was and what would happen after we triggered article 50" - The problem is that the leave campaign manipulated the voters by saying that all of that was "Project Fear" and told us that it would never come to that because we would get a great deal because the EU needs us more than we need them and no one believes we will not have access to the Single Market etc. etc. etc. lie. lie. lie.... What you are basically arguing now is that PROJECT FEAR was actually PROJECT TRUTH and that we should have ignored everything the Leave Campaign told us.

ADOLF SHITLER The EU doesn't have a dictatorship. It is literally the EXACT OPPOSITE being a council of multiple nations working in cooperation. It is also democratic - arguable more so that the British Government.
3
@Noddy656 Everyone in the EU is elected. One thing Brexit did do was prompt me to discover the truth about the EU and it is more democratic than Britain.
3
@snowyowel7961 "they do not believe in Democracy in the EU" - Don't be daft. They literally keep making the EU more and more democratic. Over time more power has shifted to the ELECTED Parliament and away from the Commission. In fact that was a big reason Brexit politicians wanted to leave - too much "power" in the democratic portion of the EU. The question is why do people like you want to give up your democratic vote in everything the EU does? The EU gives us, the people, more democracy, not less.

@6thi874 The Clown Act is not there to deceive Trump. The Clown Act is there to deceive the British voters while he sells our country off to Donald Trump and American Big Business interests. No doubt for some serious back handers.

@sparky7558 I doubt it. Jeremy Corbyn has always been a Brexiteer. He wants Britain out of the EU. He always has. That's part of the reason he makes such a bad opposition leader IMO.
2
@RupeWilson People voted for what the leave campaign told them they were voting for. Like this. "Absolutely nobody is talking about threatening our place in the Single Market" - Daniel Hannan (Leave campaign) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zzykce4oxII
2
@snowyowel7961 "The EU laws take priority over our national laws" - We are part of the EU and we help to propose, debate, modify and create those EU laws. The EU is not some external entity it is something that Britain is a strong part of. Having a voice in Europe to fashion Europe-wide laws is a good thing and something we should not give up. Most of those laws will still impact us whether we have a voice in their creation or not. Silly to give up our power within the European community.
2
@snowyowel7961 "We have had a referendum..." - So? Parliament is sovereign. The result promised by the referendum has been proven to be unimplementable. What happens next is a matter of debate. Many people are changing their minds now that they know that "Project Fear" turned out to be "Project reality".
2
@pauldrysdale7615 "WE WILL ALL VOTE FOR THE BREXIT PARTY" - The Brexit Party is campaigning on "no-deal". Nobody wants that. It will soon be UKIP 2.0.

@6thi874 "Up until not long ago, the UK controlled 33% of the Earths landmass, including America. GB has always been Great. Being shackled to the Continent was the biggest mistake we ever made." - Every single country we "ruled" over kicked us out. The only reason we had an Empire like that is because we were lucky about where key technological discoveries were made. It could have been someone else but it was us. And we we RUBBISH at managing the Empire. In fact we pi55ed the whole thing away and it is never coming back. No amount of "British Supremacy", general arrogance and stiff upper lippedness is going to make it happen. Joining with the continent was the only thing keeping us relevant and when we leave the EU we will be swallowed up by the US for exactly that reason. Britain was great until it decided to shoot itself in the head with this Brexit win for the Americans at the expense of the British people.

Ross Rain Politically the US is a horrible country and they will exploit the UK the same way they always have done. We founded the US colonies. We fought their wars at our expense. We provided protection from invaders and infrastructure at our expense. When we came to ask for taxes to pay for it all you kicked us out. We got nothing in return. Then, when we had wars of our own, you came to our aid only when forced to. Every thing you gave us to fight our war came with a price tag and we had to pay back every cent. Britain is just a desperate, easy to exploit, business opportunity for the US. Britain will Make America Great Again but it will be at our expense. Nothing great will happen for Britain through it.

ADOLF SHITLER "So you would rather be ruled by Germany?" - You really have been brainwashed. The EU is a COUNCIL of governments. The only reason Germany and France take the lead is because British governments don't want to get too involved. They just let the French and Germans do all the work. More stupid them. Britain is a major influence in the EU and it could easily be more if it stopped dicking around acting all superior and joined in proactively rather than fighting against everything. I hate to say it but the EU is better off without us. I just hope they don't come to that conclusion themselves.

@snowyowel7961 "name one person from UK who as a top job in the EU" - Every member of the European Council is a member head of state so 1) Boris Johnson has a top job in the EU. The European Commission is made up of official appointments from the heads of state - ratified by the European Parliament. So 2) Julian King has a top job in the EU on behalf of the British Government. 3) Every single British MEP has a top job in the EU elected directly by the British public.
1
@snowyowel7961 Cameron lied. He had no right to make those false claims. Referendums are only advisory, Parliament is Sovereign and he should have said so. Sorry you were lied to.

@pauldrysdale7615 "I VOTED TO LEAVE THE EU IN ITS ENTIRETY, NO TIES AT ALL" - Funny. The Leave Campaign said we would leave the EU but retain access to the Single Market through a very easy to make deal. We were not voting to leave without access to the Single Market. If the leave campaign had campaigned for leaving without any ties whatsoever, they would have lost by a landslide.
