The first video reminds me of a moment in some video game when an orc raiding party sets a wooden bridge on fire... then starts driving loot wagons across it while it's burning.

Crikey!

Running to prepared positions when it starts raining metal is only common sense.

To quote Nick Moran ("The Chieftain") - "The solution to tank losses is always combined-arms." The Russians appear to be failing at this.

So many jump-cuts that I can't tell WTF is going on or trust that this presents an accurate picture. You get this a lot with what the Ukrainians are releasing. I don't blame them, but it makes the footage useless for anything except explosion pr0n.
6
I keep hearing that Russia must be depleting its stocks of these and similar missiles rapidly, but I haven't heard any numbers. Does anyone have any official or OSINT estimates to hand?

That was my conclusion too. If the drone had an explosive payload, why not blow up the plane's radome? Makes no sense. This seems like a pure flex.

@sircroydonfacelift9389 We do tend to be a bit trigger-happy on any silhouette we don't instantly recognize as ours. We're still sorry about those incidents, by the by. :(

1:03 - If it isn't obvious, the long things sticking out of the soldier's carrier are extra RPG-7 rounds. Different colors on the end that goes into the launcher muzzle indicate different types of round, I believe. Couldn't tell you which is which.
2
Sounded more like a cheering audience to me, at least at moments. /shrug

We do this sort of sh*t all the time in "Arma 3." What I can tell you for serious is that if they connected with anything near the engine, an Mi-8 (which is what the silhouette looks like to my inexpert eye) is going DOWN. Those things are not terribly sturdy vs. battle damage.
2
Looks like an Mi-8 (aka flying box) to me, but it's far too blurry to be sure.
2
I wonder if the drone was actually weaponized. If it was, why not blow it on top of the plane's radome? Those things are VERY difficult and expensive to replace.

It makes total sense for the Ukrainians to mount Diskas rather than M2s on their vehicles. Between their own inventory and all the guns they've been pulling off dead Russian vehicles, they have Diskas for days. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dcYSdzUs3cQ&t=0s&ab_channel=FRANCE24English

@Myemnhk Yeah, I assume they're cutting out other elements of the tactical situation that they don't want to disclose. TBH my main issue with the jump cuts is that they make me motion-sick sometimes. This one definitely did.

@АндрейБ-е1ь Hello there, TASS. Always good to see you. ;-)
1
@АндрейБ-е1ь I was just being sarcastic. Apologies if I hurt your feelings; that wasn't my intention. The Cyrillic username doesn't help the perception, FYI. I thought you were another generic troll and therefore didn't take the time for a proper response. Giving said response now, you do actually have some good points. The truth is, as always, probably somewhere in the middle. It is also important to remember that even though they are firmly on the moral high ground (even before the recent revelations), the info Ukraine releases is most definitely propaganda and should be judged as such.
1
@АндрейБ-е1ь I agree that's what we need, but take it from a trained historian: that's not going to happen. 😕

It almost has to be.

Please do, preferably before you sire children. ;)

@stastu6484 OP is being a wiseass, honey.

I actually commented myself, we do this sort of thing all the time in Arma 3.

@davidlouis1068 To quote a famous movie: "all we can do here is die"... :-/ Basically, the houses offer no protection. Better to take a chance running to shelter than stay where you know you have none. That's how I read the situation as a civilian, anyway. Any soldiers reading this please correct or confirm. :)

@tongobong1 Just for some context, dude, the death of the tank has been prophesized at least three major times that I can think of since WWI, including when ATGMs first became a thing. Yet they persist. Tanks have never been able to operate without combined-arms support at any period in time. Even the legendary Panzer divisions of WWII carried their own organic infantry who were trained to work closely with the armor. What we're seeing is Russian tanks inadequately supported and therefore easy meat for Ukrainian infantry.
1
@tongobong1 They won't be obsolete until their battlefield capabilities can be provided by other weapons systems. For a discourse on this subject by a guy who actually knows what the hell he's talking about, check this out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mUyAPQEb01Q

At that distance? I think not.
