  1. Knew about it from a fictionalized story in the "Belisarius" alternate history novel series. I had already known about Christian Ethiopia, and had heard of it's association with the biblical Queen of Sheba and the Ethiopian eunuch, but I never heard of "Axum" as the novel spells it, till I read "Belisarius".
