Space exploitation can be a positive social development (greater resources and a frontier give the common man CHOICES, which improves the bargaining position of even those who stay home) and a positive intellectual and scientific development without actually being a "meaning of life" thing. A more prosperous humanity is a humanitarian goal, but it won't fundamentally alter human nature. As the song says "You can run from yourself - but you won't get far - 'Cause wherever you go- there you are."

@Godfrey544 You need to understand how this works. There is a special work visa status, supposedly to facilitate the brain drain you're talking about, but actually to lock in cheap entry level foreign IT workers, because they can't quit and keep their green card. Instead it creates a situation where American IT grads can't get a job in IT unless they start their own company. The way a proper brain drain machine SHOULD work is like this: There is a certain number of high level guest worker slots companies bid for. High bids win, and the bid is WHAT THEY HAVE TO PAY THE FOREIGN TALENT. We still get Einstein and Musk, but our own grads get to have a career. Indians dominate not because they're brilliant (though many are, of course) but because they're cheap and powerless.
