It is a fundamental conflict of interest for taxpayer money to be spent influencing the voter. We are discovering a thousand ways federal funds are being secretly leveraged for partizan political purposes. It's no better when they're doing it openly. I LIKED Sesame Street. But this will always devolve into an advocacy for the entrenched power, and it wouldn't be less corrupting and crooked if we were the entrenched power. No NPR, no PBS, no National Endowment for the Arts, no Ad Council. The first three can continue as non-profits, but NO government funding. If PBS survives, it probably will feature more Sesame Street like programming and less advocacy.
