Two similar wars, but the sides are reversed" What is so confusing? Russia is the aggressor in both cases. A closer analogy is Korea to Vietnam, and the differing results depending on whether the West or the USSR wins the proxy war. West wins and you get a free and prosperous South Korea. USSR wins in Vietnam and you get another Stalinist hellhole with mass purges and "boat people" trying to cross the Pacific on a truck tire. It can be argued that Vietnam was for the west a strategic error in the Cold War, but the notion cannot be maintained that our cause there was ignoble. Least of all by a Russian.

@georgiykireev9678 "the US was the only one to invade." The South Vietnamese invited us there to help defend them, because Soviet pilots and tank commanders and other advisors were helping the NVA. Calling that an invasion is like saying we invaded England in WW2. Your whole argument is based on making absurd assertions and insisting that I have the burden of proving them wrong. That Ukraine was being made a puppet of the US or NATO is a convenient Russian talking point, but is not a fact in evidence. If that were the case, and Ukraine were a victim OF US, then why are they fighting so valiantly to repel their alleged liberators? In both cases, the people "vote with their feet" to use Lenin's phrase, and the refugees flee to the West. Even the Russian refugees do.

@sanfander "It all has value but none of it has value in real discussions on serious topics." It depends on what you're using it for. Anything can be used as an analogy, or as ironic aside about life imitating art or a less ironic observation about the reverse. But an analogy is not an argument.
