  1. Why is meritocracy more evident in sports? Because the RAPIDITY of the failure/success feedback fits into the attention span of the least focused observer. In many other fields the feedback won''t leap out at a bystander, and it is easier for the powerful to hide it and more plausible for the powerful to contend that the feedback is fabricated.
