Your notion of of a "moral" alternative is toss the freedom of the entire world on the altar of the notion that one dictator of a nation is worse than another? It is that sort of thinking that led to the long-term subjugation of Vietnam and Iran, and more recently the ascension of Muslim Brotherhood "in order to protect their own interests." Interests like the survival of freedom? You make it sound like they were lining their pockets. The topographical map of the "moral high ground" is North and South Korea, Mainland China and Tiawan, and, while they were separate, East and West Germany. Compare apples and apples. The stakes were, and are, the preservation of freedom or "a hobnailed boot on a human face". Surrender, and inaction is a form of surrender in the face of such a contrast. We look in vain for perfection in man. That does not mean that moral distinctions are meaningless. We did some men harm for a good cause. They did far more men worse harm for an evil cause. Those of us who can recognize a struggle between good and evil in the only form it can appear in this world can hope to leave a better world for their efforts. Those who refuse to can realize their dream of sitting on their posteriors and sniping at those who dare to fight evil.
