  1. There are about 300 million legally owned traceable firearms in the US. There are fewer than 1 million uniformed personnel, not all soldiers but all personnel, mechanics, clerks, etc. and most of them are on our side, along with at least half of the cops. Insurgents have beaten regular forces time and time again. Tanks and aircraft need fuel, aircraft need airstrips. Soldiers need food. How much of the vast territory of the US do you think an army could hold against a hostile armed populace? One major city? Two?
