There is no such provision in the Constitution, active or repealed. The administration and legislation of elections is placed by the federal Constitution in the hands of the state legislatures. The Constitution does not contain the word "paper" and none of the references to "property" pertain to qualifications for voting. Some of the states may (as far as I know) have had such a restriction at the time of the ratification, but I wouldn't take your word for it because you clearly don't know what you're talking about.

I know it's not taught in schools anymore, but you ought to know something about the history of the founding of the US and the context of the Constitution, particularly if you're going to criticize somebody commenting on the subject.

This was the case even when an education degree was about making one expert in educating, rather than indoctrination, which is now the case. The FIRST place the neo-marxist "long march through the institutions" took over was the teacher's college. Nowadays a teaching degree is the diametric opposite of a qualification or recommendation for a position of responsibility in free republic. And make no mistake, our body politic established a republic, not a technocracy. Experts can play a subordinate role in administering society, but they answer to the public. Generals may be military experts, but they aren't allow to do with the army as they please. That is not how our checks and balances work and for good and sufficient reason. There is nothing in a body of knowledge, nothing in science for a scientist, nothing in medicine for a doctor, that would keep them from self-serving and doing evil.

It is clearly not the intent of the administration to enforce the immigration laws, or why would they prevent Texas from defending itself? Stopping legal asylum sounds like a reasonable measure against an administration determined to abuse it, but, of course legal asylum has not been stopped. The same laws were in force when the previous administration had a fraction of the crossings. This is an enforcement problem and it is simply that the administration refuses to enforce the same laws Trump enforced.

I'm sure you added that in your head. If that was what we were about, we would say so. Weakening that word "terrorist" is particularly tone deaf in light of recent events in Israel. Your side is doing all these things, we are not and never were. For YOU to call US authoritarian is projection to a delusional degree. Tax cuts are not authoritarian. Deregulation is not authoritarian. Free speech is not authoritarian. The right to keep and bear arms is not authoritarian. Freedom of religion is not authoritarian. Criticism of a government lapdog corporate media is not authoritarian. Speaking the truth to power in the face of persecution is not authoritarian. That's why they sued Texas to keep them from doing his job for them. Trump had a minute fraction of the number of crossings with the same laws because he enforced the existing laws. Ben Shapiro has never advocated the punishment of Israel's critics unless they do illegal things like calling for murder or genocide. He points out the objective fact that many of them are demonic lunatics, but that is his free speech, not theirs. Words are not violence.

It's not like we're slandering censoring, assaulting, and arresting those we disagree with like your side is. The side that seeks to resolve a dispute of fact by the use of force is the obscurantists side, every time. That is your side. That is how you know you're the bad guys. We disagree with you. You try to shut us down by force.

@nelsonmcatee3721 The 3rd Reich and the Soviet Union sought UNSUCCESSFULLY to conquer the world. Their ultimate defeat didn't mean they didn't inflict incalculable damage along the way. We must remain vigilant. Jesus says "occupy until I come". That's in the military sense, holding ground, not passively occupying space. The only righteous course is to live our personal lives as though He will return tomorrow, and simultaneously act and plan within the world as though He will tarry another thousand years, and that was the best for our predecessors as well as ourselves, or else we wouldn't be here having this conversation, humanly speaking. We must maximize the benefits of "immanentizing the eschaton" and minimize the drawbacks, as the saints of old did.

No, that's actually what's at stake here. Galileo was placed under house arrest for insulting the Pope. We're supposed to have gotten away from that sort of thing. Dems would like to bring back the old aristocratic rules where you couldn't speak ill of your "betters". In the old days proving what you said was true was NOT a valid defense against slander charges. If you're bored with freedom of speech and an egalitarian society with no legal support for "class" or "elite" privileges, do us both a favor and move somewhere more regressive and interesting to you. This is actually the subject of the hearing. Government agencies and officials using threats to muzzle the critics of politicians and policies they favor. It's about First Amendment violations. Our rights are under attack and a generation can't be bothered.
