@Go_Chiefs_Go "They have voted down all bills designed to help the border" "Help the border"? You heard the man. The only proposed bills offered have been to fund more processing of asylum claims or to grant full amnesty. That may be your notion of "helping the border", but they would make the problem worse. Passing those bills will not close the border, so Republicans refusing to pass them does not make them responsible for the border being open.

@scottfarner5100 I web searched border crossings by year. You simply lied about the highs and lows. The massive surge in border crossings is a Biden administration phenomenon setting unequaled highs. The previous much lower peak was in the Clinton administration. Despite Democrat sponsored efforts to deluge the border with convoys of immigrants during the Trump administration, actual crossings were fewer.

The supplementary funding requests are for faster processing of asylum requests. Faster rubber stamping of asylum requests would make the problem worse. The problem is not a bookkeeping problem. The problem is an invasion being facilitated by the administration.

The laws are not inadequate, the enforcement is inadequate. The crossings are many times what they were in the Trump administration with the same laws.

@Mulcahy22 Usually standing is a question of "Is this your problem?"

The problem is not insufficient processing. The problem is the invasion. Enforcement would be good. Walls would help. Streamlining the asylum process will not help.

@frontier6937 I don't see how this relates to my post.

@DeeRock82 "He and the republican lead house can take action right now and pass laws." The problem is not no laws. The problem is no enforcement. Passing more laws won't help.

@scottfarner5100 "Republicans are fighting in court to undermine our legal enforcement." It is the administration that has sued to prevent Texas from preventing the invasion. It is clearly not the intent of the administration to enforce the immigration laws, or why would they prevent Texas from defending itself? Stopping legal asylum sounds like a reasonable measure against an administration determined to abuse it, but, of course legal asylum has not been stopped. The same laws were in force when the previous administration had a fraction of the crossings. This is an enforcement problem and it is simply that the administration refuses to enforce the same laws Trump enforced.

A "boarder" is somebody who is living in somebody else's dwelling. No funds for them. Or did you mean "border"? The funds were requested for faster processing of asylum requests, which would make the problem worse.

@kevintsetse8440 The solution is the enforcement of immigration laws. The Biden administration has a policy of not allowing this to be done. That's why they sued Texas to keep them from doing his job for them. Trump had a minute fraction of the number of crossings with the same laws because he enforced the existing laws. Passing more laws for Biden to ignore is pointless.
