Two fundamental realities are ignored in this analysis. "The relative improvement has gone down." What part of increasing difficulty of asymptotic approach to fundamental physics constraints do you not understand? The fact that you like Moore's law and have become accustomed to it does not make it an entitlement in any sense that can be enforced upon physics. Barring a FUNDAMENTAL breakthrough in the substrate of electronics the law of less, not Moore will become the new normal inevitably along current methods of improvement. Deal with it and stop whining. The electrons care not. "The price is high." The demand is high. Any attempt to prevent a supplier from regulating limited supply by raising the price is wrongheaded. A high price is the most equitable way to distribute a limited supply to those that need it most, and also helps incentivize suppliers to ramp up production. So long as suppliers are not colluding to keep competitors out of the market, this is good. Also, the current US administration is vastly inflating the dollar supply. The "price" of everything will appear to go up fast because our measuring stick is shrinking fast. If only the fabs COULD keep up with the mint! That last part may be addressable politically, but busting the chops of suppliers is victim blaming. The market cares not.
