  1. The problem (at least in the tech field) is with the guest worker programs in the US. They are supposed to be a brain drain that brings people with unusual skills into the US. Instead tech companies use them to bring in young folks from India to fill entry level tech positions and pay them peanuts. The workers can't quit and get another job or they're deported. They aren't MISSING their slaves, they've GOT them. (For blue collar workers the equivalent is illegal immigrants.) The way this program SHOULD work is there should be a limited number of work visas which companies bid on. High bid wins and the bid is WHAT THEY HAVE TO PAY THE FELLOW THEY'RE IMPORTING. We'll still pull in the Einsteins and Musks, but entry level jobs will be available for young college grads. (And enforce the immigration laws for everybody else)

  2. Microsoft BASIC was innovative. DOS was ripped off of CP/M. Windows was ripped off of Mac which was ripped off of Xerox Parc.
