  1. A little off topic, but my brother's first wife was Korean. He was visiting us in Illinois and wanted me to teach her how to drive. Her English was pretty good, but I hadn't spent enough time with her to be fully confident about my ability to effectively and rapidly communicate with her in an emergency. We were driving on a remote country road which had a right angle jog in it, hard right, then back left to resume going east. As we were coming up on it I said "You'll have to slow down for this turn ahead." ....Nothing..."You should start slowing down now." ....Nothing..."Take your foot off the accelerator and put it on the brake NOW!" Just in time, she did. I was preparing to slam the brakes myself.
