@sshilet5685 I don't have an opinion on whether @M Harris is right about Russian law enforcement procedure, though that is fairly common among authoritarian regimes like modern Russia. I do have a problem with your defending it. The issue is not whether the penalties for possession are severe or light. The issue in Harris' scenario is the coerced confession.

Nor, obviously does her guilt or innocence prove or disprove that they coerced her confession. If you read real carefully, you will not that I didn't even assert that they did coerce her confession. (You many not be aware of this, but some guilty persons never confess.) READ WHAT I SAID in the context of exactly what I was responding to without trying to read something INTO it which I didn't say. Repeat until you UNDERSTAND it before you reply. All I said that it was bad for S SHILET to defend the practice per se .
