@paulkern7229 "So someone is an enemy for insisting that you pay your fair share of tax?" Someone is an enemy of freedom for assuming solely on the basis of a person's wealth that they don't pay their fair share of taxes, yes, and deserves ridicule for doing so. Next stupid question.

@Nathan-rt5vj "what Warren said was harsh" What she said was an obsolete discredited talking point which has been responded to logically so many times that any reasonable person would get the idea. Her post was contemptible from anyone and all the more from somebody to who lied about her ethnicity to wangle more than her fair share from Uncle Sam. Elon's response was dismissive and dismissive was better than it deserved.

@paulkern7229 His marginal rate is higher than mine. YMMV. What he paid was a result of what the tax law considers income, what it considers a deduction, and what it considers a credit. The government designed these considerations to incentivize certain behaviors. None of this constitutes some conspiracy on his part. Most of his recent rise in net worth is due to appreciation in the value of Tesla and SpaceX stock. US tax law does not tax unrealized gains. This year he will have to sell some stock and he will pay millions in taxes. More than you and I have, probably. As for the rate, a flat tax has been proposed, are you for it or against it?

@paulkern7229 "Rich people just keep getting richer and to what benefit to society?" You cite this as a PRINCIPLE and use as your example ELON MUSK? He has disrupted the auto industry, which sorely needed disrupting as a cesspool of corporate welfare. He has reduced the cost of space launch to a disruptive degree. If you are trying to find a useless concentration of wealth, you'll have to look elsewhere to find it. He makes no bones about what he is saving up for. He wants to expand humanity into the solar system for the benefit of mankind.

@paulkern7229 "The point is " The point, in case you've forgotten the subject, is that the tax law is in no way a reflection on Musk's character. The notion that somebody richer than you is therefore bad is rationalization of envy. It reflects on YOUR character, not his.
