@ole555 "how do you know the Sun is a fusion reactor" Because when in a particle accelerator you throw hydrogen atoms together at the speed (temperature) which must obtain in a star, they fuse. That later, incidentally, is sufficient proof of concept for a fusion reactor, even if you want to believe that the Sun is powered by angel horses. A scammer, incidentally, is someone who raises money to (say) develop fusion power and spends it on something else, not somebody who actually tries the thing and fails. If you can't show that these projects are misappropriating funds, you are slandering. You may believe these projects are a poor investment, but making wildly implausible charges will only hurt your case.

@Viktor M The issue is the ratio of energy produced to the neutrons produced. The easiest reaction to ignite, deuterium/deuterium produces far fewer neutrons per output energy than fission alternatives. Helium 3/deuterium produces none.

@albertrogers2506 D+D fusion is the primary mechanism of hydrogen bombs. Nobody is even trying for D+T, it doesn't matter how easy it is, there is no large scale supply of tritium such as would be required for a power plant.
