  1.  @idjtoal  They wouldn't have HAD to be made of scrith. They could be in orbit, since they didn't need to simulate gravity. Later a fan suggested a counter rotating shadow square array with fewer wider squares that didn't suffer from as much twilight as the original. But it was too late to change that.
