  1. The video introduced the idea of decoys in a discussion of reentry phase interception. This is misleading. Decoys are only effective in the coast phase, released from the bus with the multiple warheads (if any). A light decoy will follow a ballistic path like a real warhead in the coast phase in space, where there is no air. Such decoys decelerate rapidly upon atmospheric entry, and are then easily distinguished from real warheads. A decoy which had the aerodynamic/aeroballistic properties of a warhead would have to be the same mass as a warhead. Since mass limits how many warheads you can place on the buss, you might as well use the mass for another warhead and the delivery system is carrying as much payload as it can already, of course.
