Neanderthal was a mammal species in social development and entering its human phase as a community, as we are more human than animal is not proven by that evidence. The evidence proves both species existed at the same time. Oldest human artifact is 3.3 million, oldest Neanderthal fossil is dated 40,000 years ago only records an assumption not a fact they were wiped out at that time. As an incomplete species we are not yet fully human is the better hypothesis to go on, looking at us, I would think Neanderthal and homo sapeins have merged, personality psychology and brain development provided evolution is not interrupted by human induced destruction, i.e., capitalism and barbarism, synthesized two species in us.
