Religion is mere front for their true religion Capitalism.
The fundamentalist and the evangelical teachings are religions appropriate for the economic and social conditions of the 19th century and if in power the economy of the US would slide back into the levels of production of the 19th century, essentially all economic, social, scientific and technical progress, made thus far would be crushed!
Why they are against abortion has to do with their own fertility rates diminishing and a separation process of the biological family is possible only through political power. Two reasons and motives explain why adoptions are a solution to infertility and a way to save people from the immiseration of capitalism. Immiseration to the religious is a personal choice not a societal condition. This to avoid having to criticize capitalism for social inequality and the sufferings of the masses. Emphasis is given to the subjective person. While on the left the criticisms of capitalism are given to objective conditions. Both extremes treat objective and subjective conditions as mutually exclusive. Both are wrong. Immiseration is a technical term used in social science to encompass the detrimental effects of crime, alcoholism, abuse, drug addictions, have on the working poor and working class creating apathy and nihilism in people, where they do not care about themselves or others around them, engage with the world through their rage, anger, hatred. In short the two polarities are antithetical and mutually exclusive in sharp tension with each other. At bottom the whole matter hinges on political power and who gets it? A true religion is one that is supported by individuals and their faith not supported by a general tax fund they do not have to pay! Religion is still the Opiate of the Masses, in other words, it is what pacifies people from taking political action in the Many and the prime ideological tool of the Few for the retention of political power. What is important is to see their actions as a group, as a social class, they exert their economic and political aims but as individuals in contact with the suffering you would never believe capitalism is their soul.

The conservative agenda would end up turning society into a concentration camp. The American people would have to rise up and overthrow the Fortune 500 capitalist class to bring democracy back to America, is the only alternative. A war against the working class has been a constant feature of American capitalism since its turning points in 1963 and 1974. It went full throttle in 1980 ensnaring the working class with debt in order to position the whole working class in a place where utter dependency on a job was the sole function of life. Through the two market crashes land and capital, machinery, science and technology, concentrated into the hands of monopoly corporations vis-a-vis bankruptcies and liquidations.
Conservatives made sure that bankruptcy laws were reformed as a means to shatter the middle class and introduced legislation for imminent property confiscation under rigorous drug laws Richard Nixon used to destroy the anti-war movement and criminalize millions. The Conservative Capitalist Agenda is a Doctrine and every conservative for it is doctrinaire, didactic, and spins off the Monroe Doctrine when it comes to their views on the world and humanity.
With a good chunk of the working class cut off from production and a series of democratic and conservative governments legislating to free capital for the perfection of machinery and technology in the workplace and then create a new class of few technically oriented machine workers in the tech industry aiding monopoly capitalism, these become powerful forces against the working class; and are a constant dead weight on the limbs of working people in its struggle for existence with capitalism.
Working people who have been made homeless, separated from home and family, cut off from employment, hounded by ordinances and laws, incarcerated, break down till they perish in numbers, are not given the right to exist in the conservative world. Science, technology and machinery in capitalism are the weapons in the war capitalists have against the working class.
