  1. I think the more important issue or question is the fragmentation of the American working class and its inability to politicize its existence as a social class apart for the others. This in terms of identity politics, the American working class for ideological reasons and owing to repression, social control, an atomization process whereby the exchange between labor and capital is veiled by the commodity form of the product, is not able to identify itself as a class for itself, thus every ounce of class conscious evaporates because they cannot separate themselves from the other social classes who do identify themselves by race. For the oligarchs and the political elite, the State, Law Enforcement and Justice Department and Department of State to identity themselves by class would be their death warrant. The race identity is the reverse of identification of self by class. For the working person who interacts with people of all races and color, on a daily basis, its actually the destruction of self into social class and an empowerment tool for the ruling class. The point is to destroy social class as a way of dividing a population of humans. Its like being dipped into the acid bath and coming out dead working within that framework. Capital forces labor to negotiate on its terms. The terms being the cost of living index when negotiating with labor wages not the market basket of goods. It bargains with values in exchange not use-values produced per need. The market basket of goods is the product of labor taken away from the workers and confronts in the capitalist form as the cost of living or the commodity form of the product intended to be represented by wages. In the same way when we engage in race identity politics were are accepting the terms of communication, language, ideology and social relation as established by racists. What needs to be done is a universal action to break away from all the vestiges of capitalist relations such as value, price, profits, wages, race and class and become a class for itself, take action for itself, to be as greedy as possible in reunifying the product of labor with itself as a labor movement seeking to reunify with its product, fights to remove all barriers to that effect at the sometime as ti fights for its dignity against a virulent right wing and this is the kind of revolutionizing activity that is quintessentially a Marxist tradition, in developing a theory workers will need when they become revolutionary. In effect, Marxism does not belong in academia where what is taught is contrary to revolutionizing practice. Student are not taught how to overthrow the fascist regime in American schools, or claim their dignity in the workplace, they are indoctrinated to exist as predicates to the state for subservience to capital. We can view 'Jobs', employment and the reserve army of labor, in the same way, as the capitalist form of the social division of labor in society into which illegals are on ones side and legal workers on the other are used against each other for the leveling of wages. Competition and cooperation are also in capitalist form are to the detriment of the working class, its own productivity of labor in the capitalist form of production, is a weapon against the workers and the true source of wealth to which derives absolute wealth. I can go on and on about this. Fact is, the American worker if fragmented and is ideological stultified, intoxicated, and will probably not rise up until it is treated like blacks were treated in South Africa's Apartheid. What it needs to do is be exactly what is happening right now (April 23, 2019) Algiers, a mass movement for the complete resignation and prohibition of the entire ruling elites from power and banned from politics. See that happening then Marx become more important to you.

  8. In the same way that the capitalist class draws a larger income from the total economic surplus so does every dollar spent on defense. This observation was made by Paul Baran in his book the Political Economy of Growth in 1965. He further stated the forebearers of the capitalist class, Rockefellers, Duponts, etc., were less richer than Jeff Bezos, Zuckerberg, etc., and the wars prior to Vietnam, ushered in mass consumption and capitalist consumption, damaging the climate ecosystem weakening Public Health, and that 90% of the world's working population now takes the dominant form of a wage-labor relation. A world human population of 2.2 billion. Modern slavery, forced labor, forced marriages, child vicitms of forced labor, are very real social forms of labor appearing on the earth's surface but not the dominant form which is the wage-labor relation. More and more the world is divided by capital and labor in nearly all nations. Every person is proletarianized as soon as they reach age 18 is the world standard for adulthood barring the 80 million according to the last report on the subject made by the UN in 2011, that they know about, are working in forced labor conditions with their lives still ahead of them, will never work a day in their lives as a wage earner. The big topics for the revolution that formalizes this proletarianization of the planet is the standardization of the planet; correcting the wrongs of the last 50 years in Ecology and Public Health, Social Inequality, and rectifying Capitalist Consumption, Biden may not be successul in doing.

  14. @JimmyJam Humans are the only species that MUST produce its own subsistence to live. Animals consume to reproduce - humans consume to produce and produce to consume to reproduce. We are a species unequipped bodily and mentally to survive in the wild or in society on individual terms. Well, - the first fundamental condition of life is that humans must be in a position to live in order to 'make history'. Right? Before everything else life involves eating and drinking, a habitation, clothing and many other things. The second condition is the action of satisfying these needs. This action leads to new needs, and the production of this new need is the first historical act for mankind. The third condition enters into historical development, people begin to make other people. They propagate their own kind in a relation, the relation between man, woman, parents and children, the family. So far, we and the animal kingdom have these three conditions in common as mammals. Where do we as a species differ from non-human species? I guess you can say the human species is a social being or a social animal that has not yet identified itself as a species being as do animals and plants consume and produce as a species being. We never see one elephant or one buffalo, or one wolf, we see a herd and on the other side, we see individuals such as reptiles, amphibious animals. Insects have more in common with humans than humans have with themselves. For instance, Ants. There they have a social division of labor between workers and helper managers, and scouts who ensure the workers ants take the right path in finding the food, they leave traced steps on the ground scented by the workers that the direction to go is this way or that way toward the sustenance they seek for their Queen. Humans perform this action, all members of society work for the government, through domination and rules not through social communication in finding the best, easiest, most productive path toward survival and reproduction. There you have it. Ants are far more superior than humans with language and simplicity, a spider more graceful and solid a web construction than an architect can conceive a building. A web is its tool, a building to man is its domicile for social control. Now we have four aspects of primary historical relationships animals and mankind share in common. But here is where we absolutely, 100% become totally distinct. Then comes consciousness, not pure consciousness because a thought like 'spirit' is afflicted with the curse of being, 'burdened' with matter which takes the form of language, practical consciousness that exists for all people. Language arises from need, it exists for you personally and for me personally from necessity, from our sociality of being social.  A division of labor among insects is not a hierarchy but is no more and no less a division of work. Some do this; others do that. Language is used to direct the production for the new need. Humans do not produce objects for direct need, they produce objects for the direct control over their own species, which no other species does. For animals the relation to others of the same species is not a relation its a bond, they see in others themselves. A hierarchy as a human 'relation' differs from 'animal-consciousness', humans construct laws and rules that detail to all people in society the limitations of themselves found in others, I am not rich enough, or good looking enough, or not strong enough, I am not as powerful as he or she,. Only humans do this and write a constitution based of separation. The case of the discovery of language among ants dispels your notion; '...if they were aware of hierarchies, we could very well see exploitation in their species...' we know now that language in species is a tool of communication for a direct action. Language for humans is tool for direct control once we get passed the third condition of life of producing the family and new more complex needs. At this point humans are no longer a species being restricted to nature where the only difference between humans and sheep is humans do not use instinct to make decisions, or that instinct is a conscious choice. The need for a hierarchy comes into effect through extending the production of new needs and increased productivity, through the need for increased exploitation of labor for the increase of needs and the increase of population is itself a new need. This explains why the Trump administration is such a human tragedy. Some individuals have not risen beyond the stage of life of the herd mentality in the context of increased needs and population, they shut out the world. But at the same time as modern individual the needs of Donald Trump and his mode of living is highly complicated that the self is more important than life itself. Close borders, think in herd ways as a race of people or as a certain kind of Order, or social class. Israel is the epitome of this animalistic mentality. Well, that its, like or not, the science is clear and to explain it requires a long response.

  17. She is establishing a line of questioning senate hearings have not had in over 50 years, about what the subject is not line of inquiry. The last real senate hearing that put capitalism on trial as a viable system took place in the 1930's during the depression. Senate hearings, resolving disputes on bias, had been sham hearings in the Civil War period. Smith is right about money in government is nothing new and darker back. But she masterfully mirrored government's relationship to society using the participants to verify the inadequacy of senate hearings as bought off to private interests. Her enemies are lining up at the door. You did make a good point, the last one in your vid, about bias the Public can help remove. That is to stand united against the idea that government and money are inseparable, or self-evident, or a nature-imposed necessity.  Stop believing in ideas of things being immutable, forever, permanent and the purveyors of that notion will have no market in Congress for the sale of 'all things are permanent'.  Certain groups are prone to selling this idea of money and government are ordained as natural, intended by God, to be fused into one cannonball with which to drop laws on society, these are evangelicals in politics.  The Evangelical idea of religion is, if it is not heir it is not a natural religion. This idea fused with the state presents catastrophes unfolding in the world today. We, as a People, have to disassociate, even renounce, the ideas of money, politics, government and society as permanent.
