Same thing is going on at Boeing. The management there care about the quantity of planes and the workers at Boeing are pushed to get as many planes out the door. Fatalities in industry caused by human or mechanical error because the whole production process is sped up. Norfolk Southern treats commercial rail transportation as a mere form of appearance of the value the trains carry and that Norfolk possesses. Rail is not a direct use-value to them but an indirect one as an exchange-value and money can be made from the whole process of moving goods from point A to B, as fast as possible, recklessly. So there is nothing unintentional about hazards on the job. Its a conscious choice of Norfolk executives to negate (deny) the real useful purpose of rail transportation to a society by making rail a means of exchange. From this conscious decision Norfolk and others like Norfolk make absolutely no effort to make rail safe for employees and communities. All the energy and talent of people they hire and work for them goes into the useful side of rail as a thing to rent out and making safe the side of rail that involves contracts between buyers and sellers of those values contained in rail cars. The lives and safety of workers and communities are of no consequence to this social arrangement when it is the products that get all the attention and humanity gets none.

  7. This mayor is ideal if your in the real estate industry in NYC. Landowners love him but they are not a majority to boost his ratings higher than the number of city residents who hate him. This is a city dominated by landowners...big ones. High rents are used to change the demographics of the city. If they want the poor out of a neighborhood the rents are pushed up by the landowners and the poor leave. This is how neighborhoods get gentrified by people who never lived in the city but are rich enough to move in or can work from home. This mayor lets that happen. If the landowners want a tax depreciation allowance this mayor accommodates them. As long as their properties are under a construction with a work permit and placing scaffolds around buildings is enough to get a permit they can be tax deferred. The buildings having no work done to them but are surrounded by scaffolds are the owners exploiting the government for their purposes and this mayor lets them do that, the City Council lets the landlords do what they want too. Its the most corrupt city on the planet fully dominated by a landowning class. He could win people over if he made an alliance between city manufacturers and retailers who hate the high rents and city residents to push the landowners out of the government but this mayor does not have the mind or the education necessary to wage a war against an encroaching threat. He and his entourage are enriching themselves in the process of selling New Yorkers out!

MTA introduced changes to the subway system that improves its function which is to ensure the working poor in the boroughs can get into the city to do the jobs; but under the same management, the deliberate neglect in housing and transportation, including sanitation given the number of rats, roaches, in boroughs, are conscious attacks on whole working class communities. Fourth would be the neglect of Con Edison of the general water main system known to be over 100 years old and avoided till it cannot be avoided any longer doing the necessary upgrades. The Social inequality in Manhattan is expressed by how obvious the burdens of life always falls on the working poor in city neighborhoods and for those living off the main island and never on the rich elite on the island itself means that working people have to take a more militant stand against these abuses.

Residents have to form their own civil guard and rotate citizen/resident patrol groups of five parent individuals never any number less than five people together staggered around the clock, self-policing the neighborhood, ARMS Not Necessary, pepper spray is enough and cell phone, apprehend a person when ready and needed, be witness to an incident, or hold for police. Criminal elements will get the message they can’t do that here. What other choice do you have when all systems fail to protect and give you security is the question?

Of 332 million people who live in America more than half of them live on land that is not their own. NYC is a microcosm for the nation. All who work in the city work on the property of others is the same for the nation. Nobody in America that is not a part of this class works on land that is their own for their own subsistence, some bought land in remote places for homesteaded free of landowners, (a bank holding a mortgage is a landowner until paid off) and make products they can sell for additional income except for a collection of heirs to a property paid off by their parents or grandparents. And among this group, very few actually work the land for their own subsistence and livelihood.

All skills are used in one step of a three step process that the corporation is able to capitalize on production and then accrue $20 bn in profits from sales. Auto workers are obviously not an equal partner with the corporation in the production phase as they were before in the negotiating stage with the corporation. They were equal as seller and buyer and they exchanged agreements but they come out as unequal partners in the production phase where skills are used to create $20 bn in product in anticipation of its sale. Value is added to the investment. The corporation wins the value the workers lose in the value they made in the finished product. Seems to me the right way to resolve this inequality is for all skills own a share of the finished product and 51% ownership of the factories to prevent plants from ever leaving the country. Businesses are compelled to increase the workday when they cut down on staff because the wage has risen. They moan and groan the cost of labor is too high. In the old days to offset the loss of “hands” the workday was prolonged till you dropped on the job. But today the miracle of science and technology is applied on the work people are hired to perform to enhance their out put on the job. This often leads to a bigger problem. The business that cut its staff down by half operates the crew at double the rate with new and updated equipment is designed to make the job easier but often the outcomes are negative results. Currently, hospital management corporations applied a remote controlled system to monitor 60 heart monitor patients and a few of them died because one teleologist was responsible for 60 heart patients whereas before the change one teleologist monitored 2 patients. The result is critical units are shut down. Literally the living driven into the ground and a hefty profit to show for it. Technology applied to a given labor-process is only labor-saving from the standpoint of business not from the standpoint of the work itself. The work itself consumes more energy from less people working overtime. But to enlarge wealth, make a surplus, is the aim behind increasing the minimum wage for the effect it has on employers.   71. According to the Chief: At 7: 20 PM Cops get to the place. They find a naked and erratic woman burning stuff in the kitchen. There is no mention of a finding of kids in the home at this time. Cops hold the mother in custody at the apartment presumably waiting for the ambulance. Ambulance takes the mother to St. Barnabas arriving at 7:50 PM. Still no mention of the status of the children in the apartment during this time. Mother is discharged from the hospital and the cops are informed the father has the kids. At 7:55 PM a second 911 call comes in reporting the kids are not breathing and unresponsive. No mention of stab wounds to the kids or blood or trauma mentioned by the 911 caller. Cops return to the shelter and find two kids with multiple stab wounds. The kids are dead. Mother is in custody but not arrested and the father is not in custody but was the last person with the kids? None of the reporters question this timeline or why the father is not in custody as the last person with the kids. The very experienced police officers seem to have let slip from their involvement the kids. Somewhere between the mother’s release from the hospital to the cops arriving the second time to the shelter apartment the kids were killed. Nice job NYPD I hope you guys are sued for this and the experienced cops fired for negligence and dereliction of duty.

No mention of stab wounds to the kids or blood or trauma mentioned by the 911 caller. Cops return to the shelter and find two kids with multiple stab wounds. The kids, ages 3 and 11 are dead. Mother is in custody but not arrested and the father is not in custody but was the last person with the kids? None of the reporters question this timeline or why the father is not in custody as the last person with the kids. The very experienced police officers seem to have let slip from their view the kids during the first response to the shelter.
