In the Republican debates one of the candidates mentioned that around 50% of Americans are having trouble putting food on their table, or feeding their families. I don’t know if I believe this. Food is about 5% of the cost of rent in this country and about 10% the cost of health insurance. If these people can’t afford food, how are they paying their rent and their health insurance? It makes sense that someone who’s earning $250/month might have difficulty buying food, but nobody in the United States makes $250/month except a kid with a paper route.

@DemonXeron , Nobody is voting for our against climate change. People are voting whether or not to do something to at least attempt to slow, or stop climate change. The climate is changing. I suppose one might say that vote to stop climate change would be a vote against climate change, as stopping climate change would be the appropriate thing to do if you were against climate change, but I believe that you believe that a vote against climate change is a vote against doing something about climate change. Other than this confusion, agree with your comment.

Uhhh…. Your death rate by age plot at 6:13 and your estimates at 6:20 assume that everyone receives proper medical care. It's estimated that around 20% of those infected will need medical care to survive. Without medical care, the majority of them WILL die! Therefor these estimates are VERY WRONG for the "do nothing" case.

At 20:34, you have your units wrong. You can not convert joules into watts. You have to convert it into watt hours. 2 million joules is 555.5 watt hours. At 900 watts it should then take around 37 minutes to evaporate 1 kg of water. At 23:00 you say that the dehumidifier can condense 0.25L of water per day with only 20 watts. So for a full liter, or 1 kg of water it would take 80 watts. So 800 watts should take 1/10th of a day. Or 2.4 hours to condense 1 kg of water.

Democracy is supposed to fix that, but too many fools aren’t smart enough to not be fooled by those few evil capitalists. Most people don’t want to destroy the planet for everyone, but these people aren’t the type of people who will rise to the top in a system that rewards those who are willing to do whatever it takes to rise to the top regardless of the consequences.

The same thing happened to some NVIDA graphics chips when they changed the packaging material for the chip to something that had a different coeficiente of expansion than the chip. The chip eventually broke free from the packaging, and failed.

When you calculated the amount of carbon that needs to be captured per gallon of gas burned, did you include the carbon released during the extraction of the oil, the transport, and the refining required to get that gallon if gas too the gas station? Maybe burning 1 gallon of gasoline releases 2 or 3 gallons of gasoline’s worth of CO2 into the atmosphere.

At 6:45, what happened? Suddenly the model no longer matched the real data. The red line and blue line are no longer following the same path. I can't see the numbers, so I can't tell, but which line changed, the red, or the blue line? What happened? Whatever it is, I don't trust this video from that point on, because there's no reason the red and blue line should stop overlapping. What has happened in the past can not change. We're already where we are.
