Andy Gardner, My family is from Norway. And in Norway they put butter on everything they eat. They put chunks of fat in their pancakes. They eat salted and tried lamb. And they have one of the longest life spans low rates of heart disease. So, that means that fat and dried salty meat are very healthy, make you live longer, and reduce your risk of heart disease.

Cholesterol is NOT made of LDL or HDL. LDL is Low Density Lipoprotein, and HDL is High Density Lipoprotein. They are proteins that are hydrophobic on one end and hydrophilic on the other side. This causes them to form a bubble where the lipids are stored on the inside. Cholesterol is stored on the inside of these bubbles along with fatty acids and a bunch of other fatty things that need to be transported through your body. When you get your, "cholesterol" checked, they don't actually check your cholesterol, but rather test for the lipoproteins that transport the cholesterol through your body. The assumption is that if you have more lipoproteins, then you have more cholesterol.

Trevor, No. There is no substantive clinical evidence that cholesterol of any kind causes coronary artery disease. Just answering...

OldCrotchety, You can't assume that the OP knows the difference between LDL and HDL. My guess is that D B asked, because they wanted to know if the OP knows the difference. Most people don't know the difference between LDL and HDL and even more people don't understand that neither LDL nor HDL are cholesterol.

Andy Gardner, I ate no carbs (except fiber) for about 6 months and had absolutely no problems with exercise. You are very misinformed. You will only have problems with exercise if your metabolism is not functioning properly resulting in an inability to properly metabolize fat for energy. Some people do have problems metabolizing fat, while others do not. Just because you have a problem with your body not functioning properly doesn't mean that everyone does.

Galt's Gooch, There's no such thing as, "LDL cholesterol" There is LDL, HDL, and cholesterol. They are 3 different things. You're right that the function of LDL and HDL are to transport cholesterol and other things to areas of the body that need them. And you need them all the time for many things other than to repair damage. You just need more of them when there's damage that needs to be repaired. It's also possible that reducing your carb intake increases your need to transport lipids through your body. Which, actually, is in fact the case, since you're switching to burning fat, and fat is lipids, and both LDL and HDL exist to transport lipids.

john lacy, Patience. It's only been 4 hours.

Cate Bee, You're not supposed to eat too much protein. It's bad for you. You should increase your fat intake. More butter, heavy cream, and such. I look for the highest fat content in everything. Some heavy creams say 1g carbs per serving while others say 0g carbs. Look at the ingredients too. Most bacon has sugar in the ingredients. Costco has a low sodium bacon that has no sugar.

Steve Alexander, Average lifespan in years. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_life_expectancy Australia: 82.8 Sweden: 82.4 Canada: 82.2 Norway: 81.8 Germany: 81.0 United States: 79.3 So I guess they must eat more fat in Australia, Sweden and Canada, than Norway and less fat in Germany and the United States, huh? But there doesn't appear to be much difference between these countries. But I know for a fact that they put a lot of butter and cream on everything in Norway and they drink a lot of milk as well as eating a lot of salty dried out meat. I have a question for you, what do you expect people to die of when they're in their 80's?

JonJMorgan, When I was a kid I was told that to work out and build muscle you need to eat a lot of carbs. So, I ate a lot of potatoes and I would drink something called, "Ultra Fuel" which is 350 calories of glucose polymers. Now I'm on a high fat low carb diet. I have experienced no difference in my strength or stamina. If there's a difference, I can't tell. I was extremely low carb for at least 6 months, and now I'm just low carb. Still, notice no difference.

In China they eat bone soup. Since China has one of the lowest rates of diabetes, bone soup must prevent diabetes. Ohh, and you have to get blood all over the floor. That's very important because it reduces heart disease. What a REAL Chinese Home Cooked Meal in China Looks Like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eDcSP53at_M

Andy Gardner, When I was eating no carbs, a friend was also on the same diet as me and we both worked out together two days a week. Our workouts consisted of 30 minutes of cardio and then about 6 hours of weight lifting with minimal rest between sets. We were doing supersets where I would perform one lift while my friend would perform another and we would alternate for 3 sets of each movement. Our target was 10 reps for each set. We tracked how many reps and how much weight we did for the entire 6 months. When we started working out (prior to the 6 months of no carbs) we were on a high carb diet. My friend experienced issues with his stamina both on the high carb diet and the no carb diet. But during the transition from high carb to no carb he experienced more issue with his stamina. I experienced no issues at all. After a lot of experimenting we determined that the issues he was experiencing was due to a lack of potassium in his diet, so we started bringing potassium pills to the gym. Do you know what ATP is and how it's produced? Have you heard of ATP synthase and the Krebs cycle? Do you know anything about Beta oxidation? If you understand these things, why would you believe that we need glucose in order for our muscles to function?

Commie Punks Fuck Off, Every workout we would measure our arms before our workout, then we would do triceps and biceps at the end of our upper body workout and we would measure how much pump we got. I got the same pump on a high carb vs. a no carb diet. (See my previous post for more info)

Random dude, Farmers don't give estrogen to beef cattle. And milk cows are not slaughtered for meat. You would probably get antibiotics and growth hormones from beef, but no extra estrogen. There might be estrogen in cows milk.

Random dude, Any idea what hemoglobin A1C is? And what causes elevated hemoglobin A1C? Charles Carpenter, Have a look at this. Hemoglobin A1c and the Progression of Coronary Artery Calcification Among Adults Without Diabetes http://care.diabetesjournals.org/content/38/1/66 "CONCLUSIONS Higher HbA1c was independently associated with advanced CAC progression among individuals without diabetes, while the associations with incident CAC and any CAC progression were accounted for by other established cardiovascular risk factors." Unfortunately the Cardiac CT Angiography test is very expensive, so most people aren't able to get it done. Ares Ba, Are you trying to say that there's a possibility that lung cancer causes people to smoke, and that's why there's a correlation between smokers and lung cancer?

It's flicking simple. Everyone who wants to stay home can. Make it illegal to fire them. Everyone who wants to go to work can, BUT they are required to wear a government supplied hazmat suit. EVERYONE in public is required to wear an N100 filter that is also supplied by the government.
1
And EVERYONE who can work from home is required to work from home.
