FYI I just graduated mechanical engineering and im relatively miserable, you gotta practically suck dick just to get a job and if you dont like what you studied, youll feel underqualified for engineering jobs.
Now I've been working on my business before I graduated and its starting to pick up, but I gotta grind to get better at engineering in free time just to feel ok for jobs in those fields. Will probably end up working a year or two in engineering til the business reaches enough profit
But seriously bro, consider the time you put in. 4 years "wasted" to engineering to me. I don't really think a factory job is necessarily better, it's a shit job, but engineering is also shit if you feel underqualified. With those 4 "wasted" years (in which i still learned some shit, but INCREDIBLY inefficiently), the business I dream of building would likely already have been built.
On the other hand, I'm a fucking workhorse on my business because of the energy of desperation of not wanting to be stuck in an engineering jobs, even if salaries go over 100k. I'm aiming for 100k a month, not a year.
Other thing to think about is that 9 years of factory jobs from 16 to 25 is a dark shitty life and could also considered "wasted" 9 years in the sense that you didnt learn shit. You just sacrificed your time. There are ways to earn while learning, which seems like a better trade-off to me. People will pay you to learn shit
