I feel sorry for both sides young men, who should have been enjoying their youth at bars, clubs, sports, meeting girls having fun, not cowering in a filthy trench wondering if the next shell or bullet will be their last, and for what ? Whether Ukraine had joined Nato it wouldn't have made any difference to Russia as no one could invade them because of MAD thats the whole point of it, so that excuse doesnt wash, what it is is Putler old and bored ( even with his own private island and mire money anyone else ) decided to try and re build the Russian empire again in a day and age when most others have disbanded theirs. And because they let him take Crimea he thought he could get away with it again and indeed he would have if it hadn't been for the remarkable resilience of the Ukrainians. Nearly all wars are caused by old men and overweening ambitions because they dont have to be targets only the young of their people, at least in medieval times the kings and lords used to be in the thick of the battle along with their sons, but now its simple for them to hide in bunkers and send out the youth again with patriotic bs ringing in their ears.
