  1. Silencers were dangerous after a few shots, build up and damaged baffles could block the barrel and explode the gun.

  2. Reservoir air guns were great for assassination. They were very powerful and could fire a large round. Very very quietly. They were deemed ungentlemanly,, as if that should worry an assassin lol.
