I recently watched an interview with a russian woman (a successful, long-term resident of France) who decided to very publicly join FrL and tries to convince the so-called russian "opposition" that only armed struggle is worth anything at this point. She was asked by the Ukrainian interviewer what she's most afraid of, and it's not death: it's being captured. And yeah, I can see why that would be the case.

  5. Just found the interview on Butusov's channel, the guy even explains that he chose to bandage himself when he was first injured, rather than use a tourniquet on both his arm and leg, which would have limited his mobility

  9.  @NixUgriBugri  I wasn't implying that could never happen - it will start happening in the USA soon enough if enough people lose their minds later this year and either vote for trump or don't vote. It was a genuine question so thanks for answering with some facts. Hungary is definitely on course to becoming another Belarus, it's just not there yet and the difference is both measurable and important - so we should keep it in mind instead of making sweeping analogies like the one I was replying to.

I have a feeling I saw him in another video over a year ago, where a few medics were talking about evacuating the injured, and he said that he was working as a driver but because he's had some field medic training, he was often asked to evacuate wounded soldiers. His voice, face, and body language give me the feeling he's been very badly affected by everything he's witnessed and experienced, also his young child was injured early on... I really hope he gets some time off now to be with her and recuperate. 💙💛

But I know that someone like me can't get you the weapons you need to get the job done, and I'm really angry at all our privileged countries for letting aid trickle to Ukraine instead of just giving you everything you need when you first asked for it! I wish you and your country the best. Sorry for not writing in Ukrainian, I'm learning the language but don't have a cyrillic keyboard on my computer yet. 💙💛

  19.  @mikropower01  It happened on June 15th, the interview must have been about a week later. He shows the arm injuries in the interview, it was small shrapnel to both the arm and leg, and he chose to bandage himself rather than use tourniquets because restrict mobility - he couldn't afford to have a numb leg and arm while getting himself out of that situation. The state of the arm injury is perfectly consistent with what an injury of that kind would look like after proper treatment and healing for a week.

It was beyond doubt a Ukrainian soldier (or prossibly a driver for that brigade?). I know YT tends to take down comments with links in them, but if you can give me a few keywords to search for that interview I would really appreciate it 💙💛

  29.  @alonsocushing2263  I know there are some women in Ukranian frontline infantry, but not as many as in other sectors. Recently I watched an interview with someone from this brigade, saying they're having to turn women down because so many are asking to become stormtroopers but the physical demands involved in that are too high even for some men.

In any case, the Ukrainian guy in the last clip is not a soldier but an ammo driver who got caught up in that battle, received shrapnel injuries to his arm and leg, decided to bandage his wounds rather than use tourniquets because he didn't want his mobility to be limited, and then ended up doing what we can see him do in the footage. Just watched an interview with him.

  34. Adrenalin. Also in that situation the body would release lots of endorphins all at once, which acts like a painkiller. So unless an injury is mechanically stopping your limb from working, you will keep going. I was once trampled by a horse - I literally saw the horse's hoof step on my body, and didn't feel a thing until later that day when I was in a safe place.

If Ukrainians were going to beat their russian POWs "to death" they would do it before spending all that money on them, to feed and clothe them, keep them warm and give them the medical attention they need...   58.  @robertw5052  "New York, Ukraine" has its own Wikipedia page, look it up when you have time, it's a good read. It doesn't seem to have been named after New York in the US. More recently, Ukrainian New York was the site of a cultural festival curated by the wonderful writer Victoria Amelina, who had family links with the town. She was killed in an airstrike a year ago, only a couple of months after I had the honour of meeting her, and every time someone mentions this place, I think of her.

As well as watching the interview, have a scroll through the comments - as far as I can remember, a number of people pointed out details in the video that confirm the fact that this guy is in the UAF (he's a driver).
