  1. What about whataboutery? Everyone should take responsibility for themselves, that applies to entities as well as individuals. Nevermind what others do or used to do - they can deal with that. For a country like the UK, constantly lecturing the rest of the world - with or without bombs - about "values" that is particularly important. Ditto for a newspaper like The Guardian.

  4.  @cmg1819  Slavery Abolition Act, (1833), in British history, act of Parliament that abolished slavery in most British colonies, freeing more than 800,000 enslaved Africans in the Caribbean and South Africa as well as a small number in Canada. It received Royal Assent on August 28, 1833, and took effect on August 1, 1834.
