Besides, Ukrainians would be within their rights to openly criticize anyone making a public gesture of friendship towards someone from the country currently committing g*n*c*d* in Ukraine, unless that person had taken a personal risk to express support for Ukraine.

  13. The Ukrainian people have my deepest respect and gratitude for preserving their language under these horrendous conditions. I've been learning Ukrainian for over two years now and it's an immense pleasure and privilege. There is so much content on Ukrainian YouTube, varied, important, enjoyable. I have literally started doing Pilates in Ukrainian, I follow cooking channels, a channel dedicated to the Great Meadow (flooded by the soviet union to make the Kakhovska reservoir, drained by putin's criminal armed forces last year, currently regrowing a forest and wildlife habitat that has surprised everyone), people who blog about history, language, cinema, culture as well as politics and war. Every time we watch their content (and if we can, make a donation), we are supporting the Ukrainian language and nation. 💙💛

  23. Thank you Starsky. I wish you and everyone here who's not a Z bot a good 2025... and let's face it, we all know what a good 2025 looks like: the world doesn't end and Ukraine wins. I can think of a bunch of other good things that could and need to happen, but that's the baseline. And good things will definitely start happening once russia falls for good, it will be like a domino effect in reverse! So let's concentrate on that. I often feel really powerless in this situation, but we all encounter russian propaganda and its effects in our daily lives, and we all have the power, and moral duty, to speak up against it.❤🖤

Or maybe the problem lies in the concept of ownership: I imagine that if a masked gang of robbers ever breaks down John's front door and sets up in his house, maiming or murdering some of his family members and telling the survivors that the house has in fact always belonged to the robbers and the family living in it are not who they've always thought they were... I imagine that John will just make them a cup of tea and leave them to settle in.

  37.  @tokki323  Olena Zelenska is really active in that and has been for months. Also, some time ago there was a video specifically about psychological support for traumatised Ukrainians (possibly on this channel) and one of the doctors was mentioning exactly this kind of assumption - "most Ukrainians will be super traumatised for decades" - and saying that's not necessarily the case, because of the support available but also solidarity, both among Ukrainians and internationally. That's a reminder to all of us that being vocally supportive will really make a difference, both to individuals and to the post-war society they'll be part of. I don't think all this violence from returning wagners is due primarily to battlefield PTSD, either: the rf took the most volatile members of its society and literally weaponised the worst aspects of their character: the ones who make it back probably feel entitled to rob and rape and murder, or have lost all sense of what is appropriate human behaviour (as has the rf as a whole, by the look of it)

  45. Let's get this straight: the collective west owes Ukraine, not the other way round. If they'd been taken seriously by our countries, the US, UK and Germany first and foremost, in 2014 or even last year (or, you know, ever) this war would not have started. And it is not "their war", but russia's genocidal war against Ukraine, which should be rightly paid for in large part with russian assets and hopefully will be. But anyone in the US or any other country currently contributing military aid to the Ukrainian war effort, who somehow thinks they're going to "own" Ukraine when this is over, should get that stupid, offensive idea out of their heads right now. Ukrainians are fighting the war our cowardly countries have been beefing up to fight for decades. Turns out we're only good at kicking ass when the other guy is a lot smaller than us.

They also have a way of raising hell when they're unhappy with their elected leaders 😁 something russians and frankly most Westerners can only dream of... By the way, Zelensky got 73% of the vote in 2019, I believe - which is a huge majority, there's no need to inflate it.

  49. It's worth looking up Mustafa Nayyem, the head of the State Agency for Restoration and Infrastructure Development interviewed in this video (English-language Wikipedia will do). Impressive guy, not least for kickstarting the Revolution of Dignity in November 2013 with a single social media post. His brother and sister are also prominent figures in Ukraine, for good reasons. Impressive family altogether 💙💛
