Dear US, this is all well and good but if you don't resume adequate aid to Ukraine ASAP, what's the point? 👿

@Atheos-1 It's not about taking responsibility for the actions and beliefs of others. It's about taking responsibility for what we all do - or neglect to do - to create and maintain the conditions for certain ideas and practices to take hold and become dangerously widespread. I wish I could share your optimism regarding trump's popularity... we all know that he doesn't need the popular vote to win (or he never would have won in the first place), and many Americans are increasingly disgusted over his support of genocide in the Middle East. Taking the electorate for granted is one of those things that "progressive" parties are often guilty of... in the UK, that strategy worked out really badly for Labour in 2019, for example.

@Atheos-1 That makes sense, but only so far. In the UK, for example, it's understandable and necessary to blame the Tories for a bunch of things, but the opposition has been useless and/or toxic for a long time, so this is what we get. Similarly, all right-thinking Americans have a responsibility not also to their country but to the world to sort out the Democratic party until they're capable of preventing the rot in the GOP to spread to the entire country and beyond.

@jongudeman6853 I agree with you, but Europe is more than Germany. Tiny Estonia, for example, has contributed far more than any other country, including the US: a whole third of their defense budget. Americans need to stop thinking about how much they've done and focus on how much they can actually do. If putin does invade a NATO country, as he is most probably preparing to do, US soldiers will be dying in the ensuing war just like everybody else.
