  1. From what I've heard (from the Ukrainian author Andrey Kurkov for example, heard him speak a few times last year and I'm reading his latest book) support for russia in the Donbas had been steadily decreasing since 2014 - even with lots of anti-putin Ukrainians relocating to other areas. Also, allegiances change over time, as people experience first-hand the realities of the regime they were - often passively - supporting from a distance. I doubt there are many putin-lovers left in the Donbas now...

  4. The folks interviewed in this video don't seem enthusiastic about being 'liberated' by putin...maybe there are also people who simply don't want to become refugees. If they really were pro-russian they could just go to russia - it's right there, they already speak the language and there's loads of space.
