  2.  @pekkajarvinen69  Also, Ukraine is currently at war. Being under attack from a much larger country intent on genocide is really not the same as being at peace

I was referring to the point made in this thread about Ukraine "being in it for the money" - and it's obvious that Ukraine needs funding now, but we should remember that Ukrainians wanted to join the EU before it was at war. Anyway, no disagreement with your point at all, though I wonder whether it's not so much being at war, but having temporarily occupied territories that may interfere with accession to the EU

  6.  @Gambit771  Many institutions in Poland, including the media, had essentially become corrupt mouthpieces of the previous right-wing government, and Tusk is simply not wasting any time in dealing with them - since they had the power to get in his way as he reforms the country, that's a good thing.

  7.  @ProtonCannon  I hear you, but it seems to me that these institutions were set up on the assumption that there would be no more war, no emergencies ever again... and that every head of state would be a decent individual. And that's their achilles heel
