@csuporj If you're so worried about Ukrainian men not currently allowed to leave Ukraine, you should be pestering your employer to cease all hostilities against Ukraine, withdraw all troops back to 1991 borders and return all captives. Ukraine had been at war for 8 years without martial law, that was only declared after the mass-scale invasion.

putin has sent his mercenaries to destabilise several African countries, Mali included, supporting dictators and committing war crimes wherever they go. I'm relieved to know that Ukrainian special forces are sharing their knowledge of the wagner group, as well as tactics and equipment, with local people standing up to those dictatorships aliged with the rf.

@aricardonery69 The russian federation is not the soviet union. By that logic, Ukraine and all other post-soviet countries should have also automatically become part of the UN Security Council.

@aricardonery69 The russian federation is either the same country as the soviet union (and therefore the russian empire) or it's not. It can't be both. As for "what does the un do anyways?" I see your point. But I also see what it could have done on this occasion, and didn't, because the rf blocked it.

@TruthfullySpoken-mx5nf Once russian forces have withdrawn to 1991 borders and the rf has ceased all hostilities and returned all captives, martial law will be lifted in the country and Ukraine will be able to hold presidential elections. Right now they can't, not only because of the many logistical difficulties caused by the war, but because their constitution forbids the dissolution of parliament under the martial law.

I won't reply directly to the comment below because bots get paid for engagement and @louisecorchevolle9241 is undoubtedly a kremlin bot account - so I'll just add that mafiosi need to be called by their proper name by anyone who talks about them, regardless of their position. If Western politicians had started referring to putin as the don of the biggest mafia cartel in the history of the world *years ago*, when it became obvious, they would not have empowered him to start this and other wars.

@Mopsisgone Thank you, yes I watched that and I am generally consuming my fair share of harrowing material... I'm reading Oleksander Mykhed "The Language of War" at the moment, and as painful as it is I highly recommend it. I meant no disrespect by adding smiles to my replies - I was just trying to show the look on my face when I saw your replies in my notifications this morning! We cannot overstress the importance of the ability to smile: I literally don't want my face muscles to forget how to do it, so whatever's going on I do my best to find reasons to smile every day.

@S0_Rhyn Actually, a career in comedy equips people with a number of skills that can be successfully employed in politics: it's not just the public speaking and presence that anyone with acting experience can command, but also the ability to improvise and read the room. Comedians know what it's like to have to stay on stage after a joke's gone flat, and try to regain the audience. Plus, Zelenskyy was also a producer, so he knows how to work with a team and negotiate under pressure. Meanwhile, all putin knows is how to terrorise people into submission.
