Thank you to the channel for using the word "pogroms" in the title: I spontaneously used that word in conversation only yesterday and it seems the only way to describe what's happening in this country right now. However, I wish the report had included more information about the lies deliberately spread online about the person charged with those murders - who is neither a Muslim nor an immigrant. Thank you to anyone who visits this comment section and leaves a decent, sensible comment rather than the racist horrors I've been sifting through and replying to for the past hour. I would just like to let you all know that last Saturday I attended a huge pro-Palestine demonstration in central London, with a group of Ukraine supporters: we were very visible, with both Ukrainian and Palestinian flags, and had a lot of positive interest from the people there, many of whom were Muslims.

Muslim have absolutely nothing to do with what happened to those children... and the guy charged with their murders is not an immigrant, he was born and raised in the UK by parents who came to the country as refugees a long time ago, and were well integrated in British society. Shortly after the murders, someone who used to be their neighbour spoke of them very kindly. What has happened since then is just shameful.
2
Thank you, I agree.

@ЮрийАнтоненко-н5н THANK YOU, I'm reading through the whole comment section and yours is literally the first sensible, informed and not racist comment so far - I am honestly close to tears.
2
Why should "Arabs" be locked up? Even if a Muslim immigrant had committed those murders, these pogroms would not be justified. As it happens, Muslims had nothing to do with it.
2
Thank you, I got so depressed reading this comment section that has so much racism and ignorance in it, it's a relief to find some sensible, decent people. The person charged with the murders of those children is neither a Muslim nor an immigrant: that lie was deliberately spread on social media in order to provoke this disorder. It's just my gut feeling, but I'm sure russia has a stake in this. I hope the whole situation will be investigated as terrorism, because that's what it is.
2
Again: there is no indication that the man charged with the murders of those children is even a Muslim, or that religion had any part in his motivation. And he is not a migrant. I am honestly disgusted to read one racist comment after the other in this comment section, all from Ukrainians. It's the first thing in two and half years that's come even close to making me reconsider my support for Ukraine.
2
Too late for what? For combating racism and - possibly - russian influence on British right-wing groups? Maybe.
2
Thank you. I got really down reading through this comment section and replying to every racist comment. People like you are making me feel a bit better.
2
Yes, tolerance of racism and right-wing rhetoric over the years has led to massive pogroms on British soil. I sincerely hope our government will treat this as terrorism, because that's what it is.
1
No. It's racism that's wrong. As is colonialism - and if the UK hadn't been a colonial nation, destabilizing other nations for profit over hundreds of years, there may not be so many refugees coming here now. Besides: the person charged with the murder and attempted murder of those children was neither a refugee nor a migrant, he was born in the UK.

@williamtodd582 My initial reply to this thread got deleted, so I'll try again. These are pogroms - I'm grateful to the channel for using the right word - and the people involved belong in jail. As do the men who for decades sexually exploited young girls in Rotherham and other towns, and if the police had done their job, they would have gone to prison sooner, and that abuse would not have spread and continued for as long as it disgracefully did. The other people who belong in prison are the ones who wilfully spread the disinformation that so many chose to believe, giving rise to these pogroms: and that's the same disinformation that some in this comment section are choosing to believe and repeat. Because the person charged with the murders of those children in Southport is neither a Muslim, nor an immigrant.
1
@williamtodd582 My replies to this thread somehow keep getting deleted, even though I'm not the one using hateful language. I'll keep trying. The person who attacked those children in Southport is neither a Muslim nor an immigrant. Like the people who took part in these pogroms, you are all choosing to believe and spread disinformation designed to incite hatred against people who live in the UK, or who are fully entitled to ask for asylum, or who are, in many cases, British citizens and contribute to this country. I am particularly upset to find someone in this thread using what happened in Rotherham and other towns to justify their racist statements: most of those crimes would have never taken place if the police had done their job at the time, and listened to the girls who were trying to tell them what was being done to them.
1
I hope that after all this time dealing with mordor, Ukrainians can see through disinformation and lies by now - because that's what led to the pogroms you saw in this video. The person charged with the murders of those children is neither an immigrant nor a Muslim. Our government has been so busy persecuting brown people that right-wing terrorism has gone under their radar.
1
The majority of migrants in the UK are irreplaceable members of the community, the NHS for one would crumble without them. russian propaganda will never work on me - the only thing that could ever make me reconsider my support for Ukraine is comments like yours.
1
Thank you, that's what I think as well. One of the main people behind the misinformation that led to these pogroms (known as Tommy Robinson, currently hiding abroad) has been linked to MAGA money over the years, I'm sure there's got to be russian money in there too.
1
These pogroms would be wrong and horrifying in any case, but as it happens, Muslims have nothing whatsoever to do with what happened to those children last week. However, now it's Muslims who are terrified of going outside and carrying on with their lives.
1
Indeed - the British government has turned a blind eye to the seriousness of right-wing terrorism, and some politicians harness and incite racism when they need people to vote for them, and now we have pogroms on British soil.
1
@Sharkyann There is no indication whatsoever that this person's whole family "have problems with the law", where did you hear that? This disinformation is being spread by putin's trolls.
1
@ridomix You used the right verb: "turned". That's why it's important to keep talking about this: anything that turns one way, can turn another way. ☺️💙💛
1
Because he is not a migrant, he was born and raised in the UK. It is not even know what his religion is. Please don't listen to racist information that is deliberately spread online to provoke the violence you saw in this video.
1
Thank you, I'm sure russia has a hand in the disinformation that led to these pogroms. I still hold the individuals responsible for their actions, because they could have checked their facts because going out in their hundreds and thousands to murder refugees
1
There's no indication that religion had any part in the murderer's motivation, and in any case he's not an immigrant, he was born and raised here. Lies were spread online deliberately to cause pogroms against muslims and refugees.
1
@marygrace2793 Thank you. Not that his religion matters, there's no indication it had a part in his motivation for that attack. I'm sure pro-russian propagandists do have a stake in this - one of the people spreading this disinformation online (known as Tommy Robinson, if you want to look him up) has been know to take MAGA money, so there must be russian money in the mix as well.
1
@ЛюдмилаТелезин Migrants are accustomed not to work? The British National Health Service would collapse without migrants, as would many other services. I am honestly disturbed to find versions of "white replacement theory" in a Ukrainian discussion thread - remember that the people peddling those theories in countries like the US and UK are by and large on putin's side. Besides: the person charged with the murder and attempted murder of those children was neither a refugee nor a migrant, he was born in the UK.
1
The person charged with the person charged with the murder and attempted murder of those children was neither a refugee nor a migrant, he was born in the UK.
1
Why wouldn't there be police, where a huge number of serious crimes were being committed and a huge number of people were in fear of their lives?
1
The racism, ignorance and lies in this comment thread are shocking. As someone who is learning Ukrainian and fully supports Ukraine, reading these statements in Ukrainian is making me feel sick. By the way: migrants are a minority in the UK, no city or town or region is "overrun with migrants", and this country did become extremely rich by colonising and destabilising other nations for its own profit, so it most definitely be taking in refugees and treating them properly. Most migrants work most of the time. Without migrants, many of our industries and services would collapse. Poverty in the UK is caused by deep inequality, and a ruling class holding on to wealth. The person charged with the murder and attempted murder of those children was neither a refugee nor a migrant, he was born in the UK, and no religious or political motive has been identified so far. Educated yourselves. Your comments are disgraceful.
1
Thanks for sending love, I just hope you're not sending it to the people who tried to burn refugees and hotel workers to death.
1
Why is religion an issue? Refugees should be accepted if they meet the criteria for asylum. Besides, there's no indication that the person charged with murdering those children is Muslim. He was born here. Please don't listen to racist misinformation.
1
Thank you, exactly. My gut feeling is that putin's paws are all over this, I hope the people who spread the rumour online get investigated for ties with russia. By the way, if you want to look him up, the high-profile person behind all this goes by the name of Tommy Robinson. He belongs to (and maybe founded) the English Defense League. Recently I was told about a russian troll living in London who has links with that group (I don't know her name though).
1
These are not protests, they're pogroms. I'm grateful to the channel for using that word, which I used in conversation yesterday to describe what's happening. I hope our government will treat this like terrorism, because that's what it is.

@ЄвгенКоновалець ???
1
@ЄвгенКоновалець The UK has had a right-wing government for 14 years, they've only just been replaced, and for the 14 years they were in power, the right have been using inflammatory racist language to cover up the many ways in which they deliberately failed the majority of the British population to keep enriching themselves and their close allies. That's how we got to this point. As well as people like Tommy Robinson (look him up), being indulged by our criminal justice for years while receiving funds from MAGA donors (and probably russia).
1
And how do you know that? British Muslims are much more likely to be the victims of aggression than the aggressors. By the way: the person charged with the murder and attempted murder of those children was neither a refugee nor a migrant, he was born in the UK.
1
@hanna2887-p4j British Muslims are at home in Britain, and no one should suffer from discrimination wherever they live.
1
@hanna2887-p4j Yes. And that's very different from the "illegal immigrant" that right-wing propagandists made him out to be - and again, very different from the asylum seekers the rioters tried to murder inside the hotel where they were staying. There are millions of second-generation migrants in the UK - there are several in government. The mayor of London is a second-generation migrant, best mayor we've ever had.
1
@РомаВеремеенко-е6э That absolutely, literally makes him "British". There are many British people who are second- or third-generation migrants, it's quite a normal thing. The individual charged with those murders is a British person of Rwandan descent.
