As I type this I'm listening to Kozak System's Наш маніфест (this gorgeous live version from last summer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nxl8jB68oKg), as I always do to reset my brain after someone comes up with the 'slavic brotherhood' thing... the first words are literally "Нах*й слов’янське братство і дружбу" 😆 I don't even have a Slavic background! I'm an Italian Brit who started learning Ukrainian last year. I've been watching lots of Ukraine-related content, partly for news, partly for the language, and in less than 12 months I've already become allergic to that phrase. I don't feel I have the right to judge older Ukrainians who may use it out of habit, but I see how it's been weaponised by russia and when people get angry about that, I really understand. Слава Україні! I wish you all the best 💙💛
