@engliterra355 The ussr was one country composed of several occupied territories - just like the russian empire had been one country composed of several occupied territories, and the russian federation is one country made up of a number of occupied territories, and trying to reconquer the few that got away in the early 90s. And literally everyone knows that.

I think the situation has changed slightly, in the sense that RfU has become a team of people, rather that one exhausted guy. While I am a bit sad about the AI voiceover, and I can see it has occasionally caused them credibility problems which were then fuelled by trolls, that allows the channel to maintain consistency without the same man having to voice every single video on top of everything else he does.

@MathyBoonen I'm sure lots of people didn't vote for him, or didn't vote, but the truth is, elections in russia have always been a performance. And a vast number of the russian electorate did vote for putin earlier this year, that is a fact.

The word commonly used in Ukrainian for this is напрямок, which literally translates as "direction", and I think "direction" ends up being used in English because it allows the speaker not to use "advance" unless they are, well, advancing.
