Thank you. I rarely read through long comments, but I read every word of yours! I'd like to know your opinion about recent talk of modifying the accession process so that Ukraine could join NATO now, remaining solely responsible for regaining control over temporarily occupied areas, which would automatically join NATO as they go back under Ukrainian control. I heard Anna from Ukraine talking about that yesterday and she was using Germany as an example - but I don't know if that holds, considering that Germany wasn't fighting ongoing aggression from russia at the time, while trying to reconquer East Germany by military means.

I literally had no trouble believing that because it's so, so stupid. But it troubles me that they'd gone undetected until that point because all it takes is just a slightly less stupid commander. This could so easily have been a very different report 😰

@kim-ys2fs Pro-putin NATO countries are the main problem I think, because the choice to surrender some territories in return for membership may not need to be made: Ukraine could agree to reconquer its own territories while being protected from further attacks on the territory it does control at the moment, and the temporarily russian-occupied territories could become part of NATO as they are retaken and reintegrated. I'm just trying to understand whether that is or isn't feasible, because I don't know enough about this sort of thing.

@NZHazard Good point. They may be doing that, for all we know... RfU is good at opsec.
