@pierresaelen3097 "Vlad the Last" has such a beautiful ring to it I felt inspired to use capital initials for the first time in ages 😂 Україна назавжди! ♥️🖤

I so so hope those trees recover... I want Ukraine to get back its natural heritage as well as land, people, and peaceful skies. The ecological damage alone is horrifying 😓

@massey81 Nope. Zelenskyy's first name isn't Vladimir, it's Volodymyr. Same etimology, different name.

@massey81 Except that they are not the same name, they are two different names in two different languages, with the same etimology. Like Michel (French) and Miguel (Spanish), or Roberto (Italian, among others) and Robert (English, among others). The Ukrainian language turns the first syllable of Vladimir into two syllables, and just like that, the joke that started this thread - Vlad the Last - doesn't work half as well. Which adds to its beauty. Thank you for your contribution 😁

@garnertempest4069 The same name in different languages - it's not just a matter of spelling. If a French guy called Michel moves to Spain and people start calling him MIguel, that is simply not his name.

@snidecommenter7117 Thank you. I don't enough about forests, and in this forest in particular, to be able to say more either way... other than Ukraine will have other problems in this respect, like demining, and heavy metals contaminating the soil for example 😟

@garnertempest4069 Different names with the same etymology - I really don't understand why people are getting so hung up on this. I once met a Sofia who hated being called "Sophie"... because that's not her name. Even though the two names share the same origin. Just like with Vladimir and Volodymyr - which are actually quite different when pronounced properly, they even scan differently, the Ukrainian version having one more syllable than the russian. If your name is Volodymyr, no one will be calling you "Vlad" for short.
