When they did, there was a lot of noise from russian trolldom about how this was incontrovertible proof of them being nazis... when in reality, Edelweiss is not an uncommon name for mountain brigades (it's a mountain flower), and even the russian armed forces had a brigade of the same name until a few years ago.

  2. @JamesMurphy-ry2mx  You're wrong to assume that name was changed for reasons you would describe as "pc/woke/etc". When I heard about that (from Operator Starsky I think), I'm not sure the reason for the name change was mentioned, and it was quite a while ago. In any case the association between that word and the nazis is a lot weaker than putin and his fans would have us believe, so let's not amplify his propaganda, not even as a joke.
