  2.  @TheFeldhamster  Yes to all that (and thank you for your excellent replies to other comments here) but also, let's remember that for all the PTSD that Ukrainian soldiers will sadly be living with, they haven't been raping and torturing, they haven't been steeped in a culture where it's OK to commit war crimes, and they will always know what they were fighting for. That's bound to make a difference for many.

  8.  @hcpalmer  I think what that person means is that laws against domestic violence - which is largely male on female - were drastically scaled down in the rf. I don't have time right now to research some sources to post here, but the BBC for one has run several features on this issue over the years.
