@josephwest124 I agree with your assessment of the comment you're replying to, but maybe take a minute to go back through this whole thread with regards to who you believe didn't happen to German- and Italian-Americans - someone else brought it up. Italian men were most definitely rounded up and interned in the UK (regardless of their political affiliations, and definitely NOT for their own benefit), and hundreds of them died when the nazis sank the ship that was deporting them to Canada.

@ffotograffydd Thanks. I have heard about the Battle of Bamber Bridge but I'll look it up because I want to know more. The brilliant novelist Andrea Levi (sadly no longer with us) dramatised it, and the whole situation you describe, in her WW2 novel "Small Island" - which I highly recommend to anyone who hasn't read it yet.
