My blood boils at the thought that the main obstacle to a faster resolution is the lack of equipment that safer, richer countries including mine have been sitting on all this time. Particularly considering that even when decisions are finally made, it can take weeks or months for that equipment to be where it needs to be. Massive respect to the Armed Forces of Ukraine for doing so much with so little, in such appalling circumstances - the word "hero" is beginning to feel inadequate. Слава захисникам України!

  21. Thank you Starsky. I wish you and everyone here who's not a Z bot a good 2025... and let's face it, we all know what a good 2025 looks like: the world doesn't end and Ukraine wins. I can think of a bunch of other good things that could and need to happen, but that's the baseline. And good things will definitely start happening once russia falls for good, it will be like a domino effect in reverse! So let's concentrate on that. I often feel really powerless in this situation, but we all encounter russian propaganda and its effects in our daily lives, and we all have the power, and moral duty, to speak up against it.❤🖤

I met up with my friend Nataliia in central London on Valentine's day - not all love is romantic, but all of it is love! - and we went to the National Gallery because it's free (we're both skint) and it was open late last Friday. We did talk about the war, about our troubles and the terrifying insanity of current politics, but also about the paintings, mutual friends, our favourite romantic movies, and anything else that came into our heads. Then Nataliia bought two pairs of oversized sunflower earrings (they were on sale in the gallery shop) and we put them on and took selfies, then went to the pub with huge matching earrings still on 😂 🥰 I'll never forget that I met lovely people just because they had to leave their homes under bombardment, and to this day their loved ones are among the thousands of peaceful, ordinary people risking their lives to keep me and my world safe. Ukrainians have my whole heart ❤🖤

But for the first half of this video I must admit that I just sat here holding my breath and thinking that my worst fear may be coming true: you're teaching the orcs how to fight!! After he got back from being sick for a month he stopped voicing the videos himself. I'm learning Ukrainian, and one of the welcome side-effects of watching his updates every day was the tutorials on Ukrainian place names... early this year that changed, now those pronunciations are mess even though his voice, accent and cadence are reproduced pretty well. It makes me a bit sad but if he's found a way of sparing himself a bit of work, fair enough.

  29. At first I was sad about this video not having subtitles, because it's interesting and I didn't think I would understand enough... but... I understood well over haaaaalf 🥳 and really enjoyed it. Thank you, and so much love and respect to Ukraine for keeping culture alive and thriving at such a difficult time. To me, people reading on a park bench in war time is what resilience looks like. 💙💛 I liked Never Let Me Go when I read it years ago, I was happy to hear someone share their love for this novel. At the moment, I'm translating some difficult texts from Italian (about book history, of all things) so I'm not reading anything for leisure - when I'm done with this piece of work, I'll reward myself with a double reading of Forest Song, in Italian and English translation. I also have a bilingual poetry collection by Iryna Shuvalova by my bedside, I love reading a poem before turning off the light. Later this summer I'll read The Orphanage by Zhadan. And I'll keep studying Ukrainian so at some point I'll be able to read literature in the original language, and translate it into English. Україна назавжди!

I used to teach myself Ukrainian place names pronunciation with his videos, I'm really hearing the difference now. AI gets his voice and accent but, being set to English, screws up the Ukrainian words. I'm going to email the channel about it.
