The problems facing manufacturing in the US didn't start with the processes, they started from and continue to persist through trade policies. The origins of this current global trade environment can be found within one US bill, The PNTR with China Act, signed into law on October 10, 2000. I highly recommend you do some research on this US law that was well intentioned but in practice, as predicted, has become anathema to its original purpose. Subsequent policies in combination with it have only compounded and exacerbated our current challenges. One of them being Citizens United and its effects on the ability of the American voters to make informed decisions to seek their best interests.

There are so many misconceptions and obfuscations being promoted on behalf of China's opaque system, by those who are financially dependent on it, that the core dynamics enabling this self defeating cycle always gets intentionally overlooked.
