Yes it truly is interesting, from an international political science perspective. But mostly horrifically tragic, historically as well as culturally, for mainland China since the Communist Party overthrow of China since 1949.
The US saved China from imperial Japanese rule, when it didn't have to, but ironically didn't save China from Soviet Russian ideological rule, when the US should have for the overall preservation of China's history, as well as preserving the integrity of international political and economic organizations, such as the United Nations.
Though I am genetically Chinese, myself, I do think the US really dropped the ball as the world's premiere defender of democratic freedoms and economic prosperity, by giving too much credence to Soviet Russian threats and projections through Mao Zedong.
