@tritium1998 What kind of resources in China are you talking about when the original comment sites the need for fresh and unpolluted water? In regards to China's dependency on food imports, statistics from PRC China's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs show that over 80 percent of domestic consumption relies on imports. no water, no food, and no oil, combined with its rapidly evaporating demographic resource, makes the future of mainland China very very bleak under any foreseeable economic or administrative outcome.

China also needs oil. that is where Russia has the upper hand.since it is an export dependent economy. And China would find it near impossible to fight a military conflict without it.

@tritium1998 but practically no oil resources. Russia controls China's future if China continues to further its dependency on Russia, and if it icontinues to solate itself from the civilized rule of law based free world. Iran is not a reliable source logistically and has very little influence or leverage over China compared to Russian interests.

@Brandonhayhew China's few basic natural resources are dwindling by its own economic development policies. the most important for its economy and national security is Oil. For basic life sustaining resources like food, it is already heavily dependent on food imports with a virtual absence of any policy to remedy such a societal vulnerability.
