@timeforsuchaword In general terms there are conflicts of interests that do exist for some judges, that actually do cause them to end up obstructing justice with their decisions. But you are right that hearings are a part of due process, in most cases. Perhaps the judge in this matter was just being cautious for political reasons being that it is NY State and it has proven to have very biased executive oversights.

@timeforsuchaword so then he could have also gotten an appeals court decision while waiting in wherever country he gets deported to. I don't think it was a mandatory state policy to grant a hearing. It was a decision.

@timeforsuchaword but it is within the authority of the Secretary of State to have him deported through the Immigration system. I think arguing on behalf of judicial processes under the authority of New York State's Attorney General is counter productive right now. It almost creates a false equivalency that the state has been objective in political prosecutions of conservatives and their pet squirrels.
