The guy was refusing to follow orders from a police officer. The only way to demand his rights properly is to do it legally, by filing complaints and lawsuits by whatever legal means necessary. Not by refusing to comply, on site and in the moment, in a way that prevents law enforcement from doing their job. His arrest became obstruction of justice related. Investigating the crime scene takes priority over that guys public rights. If he had valid press credentials, it would have been a different story, because such credentials signify to law enforcement that the individual knows his professional boundaries and obligations.
